INFORMATION: It may originally have been the name of a sun god, but is taken as the incarnation of Visnu which strides the world in three steps in his dwarfish manifestation, and is linked with the Hindu perception of the three parts of the world—Heaven, air and earth. His Sakti is Santi. Normally depicted with the left leg raised.
